Outhouse construction isn’t a glamorous project, but in an area where sanitation and security are a concern, just $500 will provide a private, sanitary toilet for a family of 5-15.Become An Advocate
Can you imagine being afraid to go to the toilet? Have you ever feared snakes on the way to your secluded spot? Have you feared being attacked in a field as you look for a private place to defecate? This is how much of the world feels when there is no access to an outhouse. Just $500 will provide a private, sanitary toilet for a family of 5-15 people. The outhouse construction workers are believers who boldly share the good news as they serve the community by building quality latrines.
We work in villages in rural Cambodia where there are no outhouses. The villages are a mix of Cambodian and the ethnic Cham people. Most are extremely poor rice farmers. Christians in the area have a deep desire to serve the surrounding communities. Building outhouses for families is a great way to serve these villages and meet an immediate need.
The construction team is led by a believer who is a natural engineer who wants to help meet the needs of the local people. He has constructed an affordable quality toilet which is available to the community. Every week, those who are interested gather to hear the good news, get information about the construction of the toilets and participate in paying for part of their toilet. The money they give is used to provide more toilets for others especially for the poorest of the community who cannot afford to pay.
